Timecode Buddy enters the Cube
Teradek’s Cube PRO will soon come with a fully integrated Timecode Buddy: system ONE controller board as standard. This adds a highly accurate and wirelessly controlled timecode and genlock source to its functionality, creating a professional encoder with unrivalled wireless communication capabilities. The revamped Cube PRO will be shown at NAB 2014 on 7th April.
The collaboration represents another leap forward in Timecode Systems’ quest to simplify and enhance production workflows. Generate, sync, share – three words that together encapsulate what Timecode Buddy offers. Generate world-class accurate timecode. Sync audio and picture wirelessly over a robust multi-channel RF digital timecode link. And then share this data with iOS and OS X devices over WiFi. These capabilities are now available to Teradek customers too.
The addition of the :system ONE board makes the Cube PRO automatically compatible with the entire Timecode Buddy: system, Denecke TS-TCB IntelliSlate and its many supporting third party applications (e.g. MovieSlate, Adobe Prelude LiveLogger, Softron Movie Recorder/Multicam Logger and IN2CORE QTakeHD). As a result, Teradek users benefit from a robust multi-camera RF sync, highly accurate timecode stamped outgoing video streams and the ability to use the embedded metadata in the SDI stream for intelligent wireless content logging . All these features (in addition to the usual impressive functionality on the Cube PRO) are neatly consolidated into just one product.
“The philosophy of combining all of this ground breaking technology in one box is a no brainer,” says Paul Scurrell, managing director of Timecode Systems. “The simplicity of only having to configure one box is a huge benefit for the user. And it’s common knowledge that DOP’s and cameramen demand the least amount of external hardware mounted onto their cameras!”
Single camera or multi-camera, recorded or live – this new enhanced functionality will add value to a whole range of shooting set-ups, however complex. “We want to ease the pressure off broadcast professionals, when it comes to logging metadata,” Scurrell adds. “Accurate multicam sync for location recordings and the increase in delivery of video content over IP has placed more and more demands on productions to ensure that the content is accurately time stamped and includes as much on set metadata as possible. Integrating our :system ONE board in the Cube PRO gives Teradek’s customers one less thing to worry about when filming.”
But it’s not just Teradek’s customers who will be applauding this development; Timecode Buddy users will be equally appreciative. “Our customers have been asking us for wireless video capabilities in addition to timecode and metadata WiFi exchange for a long time,” Scurrell admits. “We’re delighted we can now offer a solution.”
